Sugar Balm Shells are sugar scrub cubes reimagined as seashell-shaped body scrub pieces. Each shell combines exfoliating sugar with mango, cocoa, and shea butters, jojoba oil, and vitamin E. Add warm water, and the solid shell softens into a silky, lotion-like balm that you massage onto damp skin.
What Are Sugar Balm Shells?
Inlet Soap Co. Sugar Balm Shells, in our signature shell shape, are a concentrated portion of body scrub that you can use individually rather than scooping from a jar.
Each package contains five shells, and because you can break each shell in half, you can get up to 10 uses from one package.
Each shell contains sugar for gentle and natural physical exfoliation along with our triple butter formula and jojoba oil and Vitamin E for maximum skin conditioning. When warmed with water, the shell softens and transforms into a silky balm that spreads across damp skin.
Why Use Sugar Scrub Cubes Instead of a Traditional Body Scrub?
Traditional sugar scrubs are often packaged in jars, requiring you to scoop the product out with your fingers. In a shower, that can get messy fast. Wet hands can also introduce water, bacteria, yeast, and other microorganisms into the jar each time you reach in.
Sugar scrub cubes are popular thanks to their pre-portioned, mess-free format. Instead of scooping from a jar, you just grab a cube!
The catch? Many traditional sugar scrub cubes are designed to be firm and hold their shape, which can make them less convenient when you only want a small amount for a targeted area.
What Makes Sugar Balm Shells Different?
There are plenty of sugar scrubs and sugar scrub cubes on the market today. We didn't want to make another version of the same product.
We took a different approach.

Many sugar scrub cubes are built primarily around a melt-and-pour soap base, creating a cleansing experience that feels more like using a traditional bar of soap: for some people, that can leave skin feeling squeaky, tight, or overly cleansed.
Sugar Balm Shells are designed with skin conditioning in mind, using a rich combination of mango butter, cocoa butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, and vitamin E. We’ve also added an emulsifying wax. Why? That ingredient helps the oil-and-water components combine when the product meets water, creating a smoother rinse than a simple oil-and-sugar scrub.
Instead of simply washing with a soap cube that contains sugar, Sugar Balm Shells are designed to give your skin a complete shower experience, combining cleansing and exfoliation with a conditioning, buttery feel.
Our triple-butter formula gives Sugar Balm Shells a softer, more workable texture. Each shell is sturdy enough to hold its shape, but easy to break apart when you want to adjust your portion.
Use a whole shell for larger areas. Break it in half for targeted areas like your legs, elbows, knees, or underarms.
That means you get the convenience of a pre-portioned sugar scrub without being locked into one fixed amount.

How Do You Use Sugar Balm Shells?
Using Sugar Balm Shells is easy.
Step 1: Wet your skin
Use your Sugar Balm Shell in the shower or bath after your skin is thoroughly wet.
Step 2: Choose your portion
Use a whole shell for a larger body area or break the shell in half for a smaller application.
Step 3: Warm the shell
Hold the shell between wet hands and gently rub it with water.
The warmth and moisture will begin softening the shell.
Step 4: Massage onto damp skin
Apply the softened balm to damp skin using gentle, circular motions.
Let the sugar provide the exfoliation without applying excessive pressure.
Step 5: Rinse
Rinse your skin with warm water.
As the balm meets water, it becomes more lotion-like and disperses as you rinse.
Step 6: Pat dry
Gently pat your skin dry and enjoy the soft, conditioned feel.
